1. Who we are

ChefNet ("ChefNet", "we", "us") is operated by ChefNet LLC. ChefNet is an AI-powered dining service: a mobile and web app that helps diners discover restaurants, get personalised recommendations from an AI companion, and book tables — and gives restaurants an AI receptionist, bookings, CRM, delivery and inventory tools.

2. The data we collect

Information you give us

• Account: your name, email address, password (stored hashed by our auth provider), and optionally your phone number.
• Taste profile: the preferences you choose in onboarding — country, city, language, gender and age range (optional), dietary flags, allergies, favourite cuisines, proteins, drinks, price point and group size.
• AI companion settings: the name, character, language and appearance you give your companion.
• Bookings & orders: reservation details, party size, special requests, and delivery addresses.
• Receipts & photos: images you upload (e.g. a dish photo to search, or a receipt to log a visit), which we process to recognise dishes and venues.
• Messages: the content of your conversations with the AI companion.
• Consents: whether and when you accepted these terms and opted in to news emails.

Information we collect automatically

• Location: with your permission, your device's GPS location (or a city you type) to find restaurants near you. You can revoke this at any time in your device settings.
• Usage & device data: basic app/usage logs needed to operate and secure the service.

3. How we use your data

• To provide the service: power the AI companion, personalise recommendations, run restaurant search, and manage bookings.
• To respect your diet and allergies when recommending dishes and restaurants.
• To communicate with you about your account, bookings and confirmations.
• To send news and offers only if you opt in — you can unsubscribe any time.
• To keep the service safe, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the app you signed up for), your consent (location access, marketing emails, optional profile fields), legitimate interests (security, improving the service), and legal obligation where required.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the service:

• Restaurants you interact with — when you book or order, the venue receives the details needed to serve you (e.g. name, party size, allergy notes).
• Infrastructure & AI providers acting as our processors — e.g. our database/auth host (Supabase), the AI model provider that powers the companion (Anthropic), the places provider for restaurant data (Foursquare), and our email provider. They process data on our instructions only.
• Authorities where required by law.

6. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside your country. Where they do, we use appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses). We aim to keep EU user data in the EU where feasible.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, after which we delete or anonymise your personal data except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations. AI voice-call transcripts (restaurant phone line) are text-only and purged after 90 days.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR), you may: access your data, correct it, delete it, export it (portability), restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any right, email chefnet.app@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

9. Cookies & tracking

The app uses only the storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

10. Children

ChefNet is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the authorities of any breach where required.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
